Where Does this Tradition Come From?
Saint Joseph was a dedicated worker and was very committed to his family. He was the ideal father figure as he protected Jesus and stood by his mother’s side. Burying a St Joseph statue on a piece of property is said to have originated in various way.
One the one hand, European nuns during the Middle Ages set out to find a convent and buried a medal of St Joseph to help them. On the other hand, some believe that German carpenters would bury a statue at a home they built and said a prayer as well. It is important to not only have patience and persistence like St. Joseph once did, but to also have faith and believe in him.
